City of Orlando Places among Top
100 Best Fleet Management Systems in North America
August 13, 2013 – ORLANDO, FL – The City of Orlando’s
Fleet Division has been recognized as one of the 100 Best Fleets in
North America by Government Fleet Magazine. The City’s Fleet Division
was selected as one of the top 100 out of an estimated 19,000 public
fleet divisions who submitted applications for the award. This is the
second year in a row the City has been recognized as one of the Top 100
Best Fleet Systems in the nation.
“This national recognition is a testament to the dedicated men and women
in our City’s Fleet Division who work hard every day to provide our
community with the highest level of service,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy
Dyer. “I am honored to serve our citizens alongside this innovative team
and am proud of this well deserved recognition as one of the most
advanced and resourceful fleets in the nation.”
The City’s Fleet Division was specifically recognized for budget
efficiency gains, technology implementation and staff development. The
Top 100 Best Fleets program, sponsored by Tom C. Johnson and Government
Fleet magazine, thoroughly assesses each system’s level of performance
within the fleet industry and previous first place winners judge the
Fleet Management Programs of each applicant to choose the top 100. The
selections are based on applications, site visits, peer reviews and
other national recognitions.
This award was given to the City of Orlando at the 2013 Government Fleet
Expo and Conference (GFX) in June 2013. Orlando’s Fleet Division,
consisting of approximately 50 staff members, manages more than 2,000
vehicle and equipment items for the City.
