Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Delivers Annual State of
Downtown Address at Amway Center
Tomorrow, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will deliver his 2013 State of
Downtown Address at the Amway Center. This year’s speech will reflect on
the decade of accomplishments Downtown Orlando has seen since Mayor Dyer
took office in 2003.
Similar to each State of Downtown address, Mayor Dyer will provide the
community with an update on facts, figures and new developments in
Mayor Dyer will also make several announcements for the next decade of

OTHER MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES:
Following the State of Downtown, Mayor Dyer will highlight some of
the announcements in the speech including;
1:15 p.m. – Rethink Homelessness Launch
Orlando Union Rescue Mission, 1521 West Washington Street
Mayor Dyer will volunteer at the Orlando Union Rescue Mission Home for
Women, Children and Families to highlight the “Rethink Homelessness”
campaign that launches that day. The goal of the campaign is to change
the misconception of homelessness and help our community understand that
the majority of homeless in the Central Florida region are families and
2:00 p.m. – Car Share Program Launch and Ribbon Cutting
Lot 10 Car Share Spot, Northeast corner of Central Boulevard and Hughey
Mayor Dyer will join with the Florida Department of Transportation and
Hertz 24/7 to launch Downtown Orlando’s new car share program. The event
will showcase two of the car share vehicles and include demonstrations
on how to rent the cars by the hour. The care share program provides
commuters, like those who will ride SunRail, access to vehicles that can
be rented by the hour.
