TAC Units - By reallocating police resources, OPD has created a Patrol Tactical Squad for each of the three patrol divisions. A combination of plain clothes and uniform officers aggressively confront street level narcotics, violent crimes, and pattern crimes.
ATF Liaison - OPD now has a Federal Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Agent (ATF) assigned to the department in an effort to ascertain what federal funding or resources can be utilized to combat crime within the City of Orlando. The Agent works mainly with the Homicide, Violent Crimes, and Robbery units.
Gun Tracing Program - OPD, in conjunction with the ATF Liaison, is now utilizing a new enhanced gun-tracing program, which provides a valuable lead to investigators in solving crimes. In addition, it helps target and identify gun-traffickers and assist in ascertaining where "street-level" criminals are getting their firearms.
