Orlando's “Night Out” Wins Award
Orlando was once
again selected as a National Award Winner for
its outstanding participation in the “26th
Annual National Night Out” crime, drug and
violence prevention program. Orlando achieved a
third place ranking for cities with a population
of 100,000 – 299,000, competing against hundreds
of other large cities such as Modesto,
California and St. Paul, Minnesota which have a
strong historical participation in Neighborhood
Watch.
This year's event
involved 14,625 communities from all 50 states,
U.S. territories and military bases worldwide.
Orlando had a record breaking 70 parties,
including National Night Out Goes to Church and
National Night Out Goes to Summer Camp. The
National Association of Town Watch congratulates
the Orlando Police Department for being selected
among the nation's best.
