District 2 Substation and “Seniors vs. Crime”

On April 7, 2010, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz, District 1 Commissioner Phil Diamond, District 3 Commissioner Robert F. Stuart, District 6 Commissioner Samuel B. Ings and Police Chief Val Demings celebrated the opening of the first Seniors vs. Crime Project office in Orlando in the new District 2 City of Orlando Police Department Satellite Office.

The Seniors vs. Crime Project provides seniors in Orange County with a place to file complaints about fraud and scams, discuss their concerns with peers and receive assistance. The offices will be staffed by volunteer “Senior Sleuths.”

Senior Sleuths in the Orlando office have been trained through Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum’s office to provide assistance ranging from directing seniors to the proper organizations which can address their particular concerns to helping recover property or money that was fraudulently taken from senior victims.

The satellite office will also serve more than 60 patrol officers in District 2.
