Neighborhood Watch Unit Leaders Forum

On Tuesday, February 16, 2010, Mayor Buddy Dyer recognized block captains of the Neighborhood Watch Unit for their service at the annual Neighborhood Watch Unit Leaders Forum hosted by the Orlando Police Department (OPD). The continuity and success of the Neighborhood Watch program hinges on the block captain. The block captain is a community member who acts as a liaison between those who work and live in a particular area and the officers assigned to that neighborhood. Through the block captain, and through Neighborhood Watch meetings, officers pass along crime prevention tips and information to members of the community.
