As the City of Orlando and Events Center Development, LCC construct the Amway Center, there are opportunities for contracts that extend beyond the construction.  On April 22, the City will release a Request for Proposal (RFP) for qualified Janitorial Service companies for the housekeeping and event cleaning services at the new Amway Center as well as the Florida Citrus Bowl and the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre. 

Nationwide, there are a small number of firms that specialize in providing janitorial and housekeeping services to large facilities such as the Amway Center, the Florida Citrus Bowl and the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre. As part of the City’s construction of the new Community Venues, the BLUEPRINT was developed to ensure contracting opportunities for small and local companies. 

One of the elements of the RFP for janitorial services will be that the selected firm partners with small, local and women and minority-owned companies that can meet the diverse needs of patrons attending sporting events, concerts, banquets, community events, family shows and other activities. 

In order to provide additional opportunities for local, minority and women-owned companies to be a part of the Janitorial Services team, the City of Orlando will be hosting a community forum for these businesses to meet with the national Janitorial Service providers who may be bidding on this proposal.

In addition to the Janitorial Services RFP, this meeting will now also include the RFP for Peer Group Security Services at the new Amway Center. The City of Orlando is seeking qualified firms to provide Peer Group Security Services at the Orlando Venues. Through the use of peer group security, the successful Proposer will provide for and assure the safety of members of the public and performers before, during and after scheduled performances along with providing customer service functions throughout.
