Orlando Hometown Security Volunteer Program The City of Orlando created the Hometown Security Volunteer Program to engage citizens who have displayed strong leadership skills and a commitment to hometown security. This network of volunteers will use their skills and abilities to prepare their communities for the threats of terrorism, crime and disasters by promoting Orlando Citizen Corps training courses and working with the Office of Communications and Neighborhood Enhancement and neighborhood associations to develop neighborhood disaster plans.
"I volunteer to keep active in my retirement years. The Orlando Citizen Corps training programs are interesting and allows me to help my community with homeland security." "Having knowledge of what to do during and after a disaster, especially when emergency personnel are not available, is extremely essential for human survival." To become a Hometown Security Volunteer, citizens must
complete 4 Citizen Corps training courses. For more information on the
