Hurricane Charley Updates

City of Orlando's
Permitting Services and Code Enforcement Divisions:

As of today, August 19, the doors to City of Orlando's Permitting Services and Code Enforcement divisions have re-opened to the public to conduct regular business. Restoration permits are taking top priority at this time.

Orlando Fire Department Distributing Ice:

Residents without electricity may pick up ice today until 7 p.m. (or until supplies are exhausted) at OFD Fire Station #4, located at 900 North Ferncreek Ave. Please bring your own cooler or container. Ice is limited to 2 16 oz. bags per person.

Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau:

The Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau has set up a hotline for local residents in need of a hotel room. Rooms start at $39.99. The information line, 407-354-5555, is operated from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Operational centers for youth
(extended hours until school resumes):
Callahan Neighborhood Center - 407-246-2305

Dr. James R. Smith Neighborhood Center -407-246-2288
Dover Shores Community Center - 407-381-2708
Engelwood Neighborhood Center-407 - 275-7910
Jackson Community Center - 407-246-2327
Reeves Terrace Recreation Site - 407-246-2349
Wadeview Community Center - 407-246-2883

These centers open at 7:30 a.m. There will be no charge for the children of City of Orlando or Orlando Utilities Commission employees if they show their employee ID. Youth must be age 5 and up. Citizens that bring their children to the centers will pay a rate of $ 8 per day per child. Parents must bring lunches for each child.

Operational centers for older adults and fitness centers:

Non-operational centers:
Colonialtown Neighborhood Center (power lines and trees obstructing access).

The Orlando Tennis Center and all City pools will be closed until further notice.

The Northwest Community Center has been designated as a Red Cross Shelter.
