Gardens Closing for Hurricane Frances
Orlando,
Florida---After reopening last Saturday, August 28th,
Harry P. Leu Gardens is once again
forced to close its gates to the public. The Gardens will be closed starting
Friday, September 3, 2004 due to Hurricane Frances and will remain closed until
further notice. The Gardens will assess any and all damages and notify the
public as to opening again. “We are doing everything possible to ready for the
storm,” said Robert Bowden, Executive Director. “Safety is our first concern.”
Leu Gardens, located at 1920 North Forest Ave., 407-246-2620, is home to more
than 8,000 different plants, many of which are rare or threatened with
extinction.
