ORLANDO, FL (September 21, 2004) – Mayor Buddy Dyer at 10:45 a.m. at the City’s J.R. Smith Center will declare today “Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day.”

Residents of Orlando’s southwest community will take part in this free health fair, sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and CNC Community Pharmacy, which will feature screenings from local healthcare vendors.

The fair is part of a U.S. Department of Health initiative to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare. The focus of the day is to encourage individuals to take charge of their health by visiting a health professional at a community-based health event.
