Hurricane Jeanne Update #2
Mayor Dyer Friday afternoon reassured citizens
that the City of Orlando is prepared for Hurricane Jeanne.
Saturday at noon, the City will activate its Emergency Operations Center at
level II.
Saturday at 2 p.m., the City will activate its Emergency Information Line,
which is 407-246-4268. This is the number citizens should call with any
storm-related questions.
Saturday at 6 p.m., the City will activate its operations center at a level 1.
City of Orlando Public Works Information:
Yard waste pickup will continue as normal on Saturday. We are also planning on
having normal pickup on Monday.
Our three residential debris sites will remain open Saturday as long as
possible. Those sites are:
· The northeast corner of Montana and Ferris streets
· At Primrose Drive and Amelia
· At the Citrus Bowl at South Street and Norton Avenue
Sandbags
For City of Orlando residents, we have full sandbags available at our
Streets and Drainage division at 1010 South Woods Avenue. Those bags will be
available between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday.
Traffic Signals
During hurricanes Charley and Frances, our transportation engineering department
coordinated with our police department to document malfunctioning traffic
signals and get those working as quickly as possible. Rest assured that we
continue monitoring those signals during Jeanne so that we can make the streets
safer for our citizens.
Police and Fire
The City's police department, and fire department, which this past week sent
firefighters up to the Panhandle to help other Floridians recover from the
storms, are prepared to keep our citizens safe.
