Hurricane Jeanne Update #8
Sunday, Sept. 26, 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Dyer Sunday at 5 p.m. held a press
conference detailing the City’s plans for response to Hurricane Jeanne.
The City’s streets and drainage crews have been out and will have normal garbage
pickup on Monday.
More than 40 City pump stations are without power; citizens are encouraged to
conserve water and avoid flushing.
Response squads comprised of fire department and public works crews are tending
to downed trees. If residents want to report downed trees, please call the
City’s Emergency Information Line at 407-246-4268.
The curfew has been extended to 6 a.m. Monday morning and the Mayor encouraged
citizens to stay off the roads for safety. Please treat non-working traffic
lights as 4-way-stops.
The Orlando Police Department has increased its staffing and is patrolling to
ensure the safety of citizens without power.
Orlando Utilities Commission reports that approximately 90,000 citizens of
Orlando are without power. If residents have power, the Mayor recommends they
leave their porch light on so crews can determine which areas are without power.
