REMOVAL INFORMATION
ORLANDO, FL (October 3, 2004) -- October
17, 2004 is the last day for residents to place “storm related green waste”
at the curb for free pick-up by City of Orlando FEMA contractors.
After October 17, the City’ Solid Waste division will collect green waste
following standard City policy. Four cubic yards per week of bagged or bundled
green waste will be free as part of residents’ regular weekly service. A fee
will be charged for large piles in accordance with the established solid waste
fee schedule for claw truck service.

November 7, 2004 is the date FEMA contractors
believe they will have all branches/logs/stumps removed from City streets. A
small clean-up crew will be asked to remain to address special situations after
November 7.
December 17, 2004 is the last day for residents to place storm related building
materials at the curb for free pick-up by City crews. After December 17, the
Solid Waste division will continue to collect building materials following
standard City policy. A fee will be charged for large piles in accordance with
the established solid waste fee schedule for claw truck service.
Residential drop-off sites will remain open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. as follows:
Citrus Bowl (on South St., just west of Orange Blossom Trail)
· 7 days per week until need drops-off
Lake Highland (corner of Ferris Avenue and Montana Street)
· 7 days per week through October 10th
· Weekends only after October 10th
Former Marine Corps reserve center (corner of Primrose Drive and Amelia
Street)
· 7 days per week through October 10th
· Weekends only after October 10th
Damage from the hurricanes produced an estimated 300,000 cubic yards of wood
chips. The vast majority of these chips will be recycled as a fuel source,
commercial compost ingredient or for dirt parking lot/road stabilization.
