HURRICANE DEBRIS CLEAN-UP WINDS DOWN –
CITY TO BEGIN CLOSING CITIZEN DEBRIS SITES
ORLANDO, FL (November 12, 2004) -- As debris clean up for the hurricanes winds
down, starting today, the City will close two of the citizen debris drop off
sites, the site at Ferris and Montana, just north of Lake Highland, and the site
at Primrose and Amelia (the old Marine Reserve Center).
These sites were only open on the weekends and use has dropped to fewer than 10
loads per day.
The site on South Street near the Citrus Bowl will remain open seven days a
week, except during two major events: The Florida Classic on Saturday, November
20, and the UCF football game on Tuesday, November 23. This site is centrally
located in the City, just two blocks west of Orange Blossom Trail on South
Street. The hours of operation have changed due to the return to standard time;
the site will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (daylight hours).
All citizens may continue to call the hurricane debris hotline at 407-246-2314,
including after hours and weekends when voice mail is on the line, to let us
know about debris removal concerns.
