CITY OF ORLANDO FIRE DEPARTMENT
CELEBRATES 120 YEARS OF SERVICE
Orlando Firefighters Take Time To Reflect
On Impact
Made In Citizen’s Lives Since 1885
WHAT: Since 1885, the City of Orlando
Fire Department (OFD) has been protecting the lives and property of Orlando
citizens and visitors, and now, in their 120th year, are celebrating their
service to the City of Orlando.
This Saturday, May 7th, Orlando Firefighters invite all citizens to join them in
their 120th anniversary celebration at Loch Haven Park. Orlando firefighters
from around the City will be present with their fire brigade and trucks.
Beginning at 9:45 a.m., and continuing throughout the day, OFD will offer
demonstrations from teams including high angle rescue, bomb squad special
operations and K-9 arson investigators unit. Additionally, fire engines and
special fire vehicles will be on display such as haz mat, stokes basket, tower
and more.
At 2:00 p.m., Orlando firefighters will participate in a firefighter competition
with children from the community. The Orlando Fire Museum, old Firehouse #3,
will host tours to showcase Orlando’s historic fire department over the years.
The event is open to the public and will feature food, music, live
demonstrations and activities for the entire family.
