BICYCLING MAGAZINE NAMES ORLANDO
ONE OF 20 CITIES FOR 2005 BIKETOWN U.S.A. PROGRAM
City of Orlando To Participate In Unique Bicycling Program For Local
Residents
WHAT: What happens when you give
someone the gift of a bike? The citizens of Orlando and the readers of Bicycling
magazine will find out soon enough.
The editors of Bicycling have selected Orlando as one of their 20 BikeTown USA
markets around the country for 2005.
Today, 50 bikes from leading bicycle manufacturer Giant will be given away to 50
Orlando area residents that entered an essay contest explaining how having a new
bike could change their lives (weight loss, self improvement, running errands),
or how they would use a bike to commute to work.
All participants will chronicle their experiences for the next 3 months. In
addition to new bikes, winners will receive Cat Eye computers to track mileage,
Kryponite bike locks, Bell helmets, rear-flashers and other cycling gear.
WHO: District 3 Commissioner Vicki Vargo will be on hand with BikeTown
USA Representatives to congratulate the Orlando-area winners on their new
bicycles.
