ORLANDO, FL (October 14, 2005) – On Monday, October 17, 2005, Mayor Buddy Dyer
will work-along with City licensed, aquatic chemical applicator employees to
spray aquatic weeds. The Mayor and City Staff will use an airboat to apply
aquatic herbicides to undesirable and non-native aquatic plants on Clear Lake.
The control of these plants is necessary to maintain and encourage the growth of
the native fauna and flora plants, which beautify Clear Lake’s aquatic
community.
History of Work-Alongs
As part of Mayor Dyer’s commitment to providing citizens with the high quality
service they have come to expect, he participates in monthly work-alongs with
various City staff. In the past six months, Mayor Dyer has conducted walking
audits in Downtown Orlando with transportation planners, worked with Code
Enforcement Officers, went door-to-door with Orlando Police Officers delivering
valuable City information to residents in the Parramore Heritage Neighborhood,
and assisted City staff with hurricane relief efforts.
