City of Orlando Continues to Move
Pathways for Parramore Forward
Orlando, FL. (October 19, 2005) – In June,
Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 5 Commissioner Daisy Lynum presented Pathways for
Parramore, the bold efforts to lead revitalization efforts in the Parramore
Heritage Neighborhood. Based on the recommendations of the Parramore Task Force
5 strategic areas of focus were named: Public Safety, Housing, Quality of Life,
Education and Business Development.
Under Pathways for Parramore, the City of Orlando is working to restore the
Parramore Heritage Neighborhood to a safe, livable, sustainable and prosperous
place for families, businesses and educational institutions to thrive.
Below are the events and programs this week that Mayor Dyer and Commissioner
Lynum will attend related to Pathways for Parramore:

Impact Movement Opens National HQ in Downtown Orlando
Mayor Dyer and Commissioner Lynum will participate in an open house for business
and community leaders as they welcome Impact Movement, a non-profit Christian
organization focused on African-American young leaders, to Downtown Orlando. In
the future, the permanent headquarters of the Impact Movement will be located in
the Parramore Heritage Neighborhood.

Orlando Police Department (OPD) Launches New Sub-Station in Parramore
Police Chief Michael McCoy will join Mayor Dyer and Commissioner Lynum at the
official opening of the new 1,248 sq. ft. Orlando Police Department sub-station
at the CityView development in Parramore. The new office has improved technology
capabilities so that officers can serve the citizens of Parramore more
efficiently.
Additionally, Chief McCoy and Mayor Dyer will rollout the zero-tolerance signage
initiative signifying the commitment to eliminating prostitution and drugs in
Parramore. Tours of the new sub-station and visuals of the zero-tolerance signs
will be available.
The Public Safety Pathway encompasses the Orlando Police Department’s Community
Policing Division and the City’s Code Enforcement Division. Both of these
divisions are working to reduce crime and code violations in Parramore by adding
Code Enforcement Officers and by assigning Orlando Police Officers to build
relationships with residents, business owners and key stakeholders.

Pathways for Parramore: Get Invested!
The City of Orlando is hosting the second installment of the Pathways for
Parramore: Get Invested Series. Mayor Buddy Dyer will attend to welcome event
participants. Hear from representatives of the Parramore Business Community
regarding the benefits of locating a business in the Parramore neighborhood.
Local economic development organizations will also attend to provide information
about their programs and services.
The objective of the City of Orlando Business Development Pathway is to create a
stable and diversified economy in Parramore by creating an entrepreneurial
environment that attracts targeted employers and small neighborhood-oriented
businesses.
