Mission
To provide meaningful,
independent and objective audit services and management support by
examining and evaluating City operations, contractors and related
agencies in order to safeguard City assets and promote maximum
accountability, efficiency and effectiveness.

Scope of
Operations
The Office of Audit Services
and Management Support's scope of operations encompasses every phase and sector of
City operations. This requires going beyond the accounting and financial
records to obtain an understanding of the operations under review.
This involves such
activities as:
1. Reviewing and appraising the soundness, adequacy, and application of
accounting, financial, and other operating controls and promoting
effective control at reasonable costs.
2. Evaluating activities or programs to determine whether they are
effective and efficient and serve the purpose intended by City Code
and/or City Policies and Procedures.
3. Determining the extent of management compliance with applicable laws
and regulations and with established policies, plans and procedures.
4. Determining the extent to which City revenues and assets are properly
collected, accounted for and/or safeguarded from losses of all kinds.
To meet its mission, the
Office of Audit Services and Management Support performs several
Functions and operates an Audit Hotline
where citizens and employees can anonymously report suspected instances
of fraud, waste and abuse.
