“Super Saturday” Economic Assistance Fair

WHO: Central Florida Citizens

WHAT: “Super Saturday” Economic Assistance Fair

WHEN: January 28, 2006

WHERE: Downtown Lynx Central Station
445 N. Garland Avenue

ORLANDO, FL (January 23, 2006)- As part of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Campaign Launch, the City of Orlando, the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, Orange County Government, the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation, LYNX, and several other community organizations, have come together to coordinate a “Super Saturday” Economic Assistance Fair.
“The City of Orlando has a commitment to the economic security of our City’s hard working families and EITC - is one of the best public policy tools we have to lift families and children out of poverty and to build the financial security of our workforce, “ said Mayor Buddy Dyer. “I encourage people to take advantage of this fantastic, free service, allowing families to keep more of their own hard earned money.”
“Super Saturday” will be held on Saturday January 28, 2006, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Downtown Lynx Central Station. No appointment is needed. At the event, several services will be offered free of charge, for anyone whose household income is less than $38,000/year. These free services include tax preparation and online filing, credit reports and financial counseling, information on affordable housing and low-cost children’s health insurance, as well as job assistance.
People who wish to have their taxes prepared should bring the following items with them: one form of photo ID, W-2 forms from all jobs worked in 2004,1099 forms for unemployment compensation, interest and any other income, W-10 forms from child care providers, Social Security cards for all dependents, and names and birth dates for everyone in your household. It is also recommended to bring a copy of last year’s tax return.

Since 1975, the EITC has lifted more than 22 million working people out of poverty, more than any other federal aid program. One in four people qualify for this refundable income tax credit (EITC) and more than $15 million in EITC refunds have not been claimed in Orange County.
For those who are unable to attend the Super Saturday event, 25 sites across Orange County are providing these services. For locations, days/times of operation, or for more information visit www.extracreditorlando.org, or call 2-1-1 (or by cell phone, 407-839-HELP).
