ORLANDO, FL (February 21, 2006)—Today, Mayor Dyer will honor local middle school and high school students, selected by school teachers and administrators, for exemplifying the ideals of Dr. King of freedom, peace, justice and equality for all.

Mayor Dyer, the MLK Commission, educators and special guests will come together to recognize and celebrate each one of the students. Each Humanitarian winner will receive a book detailing Dr. King’s life during the early days of the civil rights movement, tickets to local theme parks, as well as several other items.

This year, Mayor Dyer’s Commission is pleased to have a nationally known speaker address the students, Dr. Pamela McCauley-Bell, who is well known for her motivational and empowering style.

The Orlando Magic and Mayor Dyer also honored each student and his/family on January 18th. Students and their families received tickets to an Orlando Magic game and were honored at Center Court during halftime.
