PARRAMORE TEENS SAY GOODBYE TO SUMMER
WITH CITYTEENZ BACK TO SCHOOL JAM LUAU
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Hangs with Local
Teens to Help Get Ready for New School Year
WHAT: More than 400 teenagers from the
Parramore Heritage Community will attend the end of summer celebration for the
City of Orlando’s CityTeenz summer program. As a part of the Parramore Kidz Zone
initiative launched earlier this year by Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 5
Commissioner Daisy W. Lynum, CityTeenz provided scholarships to teenagers living
in the Parramore community to attend unique summer programs.
Throughout the entire summer, the City of Orlando’s Families, Parks and
Recreation was able to coordinate scholarships for more than 300 Parramore
children and teens to attend programs such as acting lessons at the Mad Cow
Theatre, classes at UCF’s School of Digital Media and camp at Bridge to
Independence.
The Back-to-School Jam Luau will include games, food and entertainment,
including performances by local teenagers. Teens will also receive free
backpacks and school supplies for participating in CityTeenz. For the first
time, a participant in the CityTeenz program and a Jones High School graduate
will receive a college scholarship.
