City of Orlando Recreation Staff Tips Off
Against Orange County in Charity Basketball Game
WHAT:
The City of Orlando and Orange County staff will hit the courts on
Wednesday, November 15 for the 2nd Annual Charity Basketball Game. The real
battle won’t be on the court instead it will be to see which government entity
can collect the most nonperishable food items--with the real winner being the
Second Harvest Food Bank.
The Second Harvest Food Bank reports, that one in ten Central Floridians find it
necessary to seek assistance with food at some time during each year. The
populations found to be at the highest risk of being hungry in our society are
women, children, and the working poor. “We were looking for a way to give back,
especially during this time of year. This is a fun way to involve more people
and provide a greater benefit to the community,” said Lisa Early, Director,
Families, Parks and Recreation -- City of Orlando.
