MAYOR BUDDY DYER, COMMISSIONER PHIL DIAMOND, COMMISSIONER PATTY SHEEHAN AND ORLANDO FIRE DEPARTMENT BREAK GROUND ON NEW FIRE STATIONS

Three State-of-the-Art Fire Stations Begin Construction through Mayor Dyer’s Public Safety Initiative

WHAT: Earlier this year, Mayor Buddy Dyer unveiled a multi-year, multi-million dollar public safety initiative, continuing the city’s commitment to public safety. On Thursday, December 14, Mayor Dyer and District 1 Commissioner Phil Diamond will break ground on fire station #16 and Mayor Dyer and District 4 Commissioner Patty Sheehan will break ground on fire station #17, marking three fire stations to begin construction this month.

As the City of Orlando experiences tremendous growth, the Orlando Fire Department is focused on enhancing it’s infrastructure with the addition of these stations, adding 45 fire personnel operating 3 advanced life support engine companies servicing North Lake Nona, Central Lake Nona and the Millenia area. These new fire stations will lay the foundation to attain the City’s first ISO rating of “1”. This is the highest rating that cities and communities across the nation strive to achieve for their citizens attaining rapid response times, lowering residential and commercial property insurance rates and keeping the Orlando Fire Department in the top 1% of rated-fire agencies in the country.

WHO: Mayor Dyer, District 1 Commissioner Diamond, District 4 Commissioner Sheehan, Fire Chief Jim Reynolds, Deputy Fire Chief Kathy Miller, Deputy Fire Chief Rudy Johnson and Deputy Fire Chief Mark Oakes
