Mayor Dyer Calls Special Election
for District 6 City Commissioner
December 29, 2007 – Orlando, FL-- On December
21, 2006, Governor Bush entered an executive order under state law that
permanently removed District 6 City Commissioner Ernest Page from office. Page
was suspended earlier this year for charges that were brought against him.
Under these circumstances, the Orlando City Charter requires Orlando Mayor Buddy
Dyer to call a special election to permanently fill the District 6 Orlando City
Commission seat. Today, Mayor Dyer issued a proclamation that officially
schedules a special Election for February 13, 2007.
The person elected to fill the City of Orlando District 6 seat will serve the
remainder of Page’s term beginning on Monday, February 19, 2007 (unless a
run-off is necessary in which case the term will begin on Monday, March 19,
2007) and ending on May 31, 2008.
