Commissioner Special Election
January 30, 2007—Orlando, FL--In December,
Governor Bush entered an executive order under state law that left a permanent
vacancy for the District 6 City Commission seat. As a result, Mayor Dyer
called a special election to be held on February 13, 2007 to permanently fill
the seat.
Two candidates, Samuel Ings and Lawanna Gelzer
submitted the paperwork and qualified to run in the special election. The
person elected to fill the permanent vacancy for the City of Orlando District 6
seat will begin their term on Monday, February 19, 2007 and end on May 31, 2008.
District 6 polling locations:
Precinct 6101
Orlando Fire Station #7 – 671 S. Goldwyn Ave.
Precinct 6201
Dr. James R. Smith Neighborhood Center – 1723 Bruton Blvd.
Precinct 6301
Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church – 4077 Prince Hall Blvd.
PLEASE NOTE A POLLING LOCATION CHANGE FOR
PRECINT 6401:
Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church will not be available
for this special election. Therefore, Fire Station #12 (1588 Park Center
Drive) will be the polling place for both Precincts 6401 and 6501.
