MAYOR DYER APPOINTS KATHY RAMSBERGER DIRECTOR OF ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT
ORLANDO, FL (March 28, 2003) – Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Friday announced the appointment of Kathy Ramsberger as the Director of Arts and Entertainment to operate out of the Mayor’s office. “I have asked Kathy to not only ensure a solid future for the arts, but to continue to make the arts and entertainment an economic engine for the City,” said Mayor Dyer. Last year, nearly 2000 people were employed in the arts in the Central Florida area, receiving $42 million in wages. Orlando has always been a strong of supporter of the arts. For instance, the average Orlando resident last year spent $82 on arts-related activities while the average Florida resident spent $62. Ramsberger has served as a Senior Vice President at the Economic Development Commission and on the City of Orlando Arts Advisory Board and the Community Arts Board. “She has the right mix of business, arts experience and community involvement for this job and I know she will not only ensure the City of Orlando’s commitment to the arts but she will also play a major role in helping to find a solution to building a new performing arts center here in Orlando,” said Mayor Dyer.
