MEDIA ALERT

PRISONER OF WAR, DAVID WILLIAMS, TO BE HONORED AT ORLANDO CITY HALL

ORLANDO, FL (May 1, 2003) - Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will welcome former prisoner of war David Williams back to Orlando on Friday, May 2, at 10 a.m. in a special ceremony on the Plaza at City Hall. During the ceremony, Officer Williams will take down the POW/MIA flag that was raised in his honor on March 31. Williams is a helicopter pilot who was released 20 days after he was captured when he went down while flying a combat mission in Iraq. The public is encouraged to attend this welcome home event. 

Officer Williams’ wife and family will accompany him as he is presented his MIA/POW flag by Mayor Dyer and raises another MIA/POW flag that will hang permanently outside City Hall. After the event, Officer Williams and Mayor Dyer will hold a brief press conference.
