MAYOR DYER AND CITY HALL SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE ORLANDO MAGIC
ORLANDO, FL (December 3, 2003) – Installation began Wednesday on an Orlando Magic banner that will hang at Orlando City Hall. Installation will be completed by Friday, December 5. “I wanted to show our players, and our community, that I am behind them all the way,” said Mayor Buddy Dyer. “I hope these banners will remind our citizens of how important the Magic is to our community.” The banner, which is 65 feet high and 109 feet wide, is hung on the north side of City Hall, facing South Street. Magic players Drew Gooden, Juwan Howard and Tracy McGrady are featured on the banner, above the words “Unite Orlando.” Another Magic banner will be hung on the east side of the Orlando Marriott Downtown. The size of that banner will be 110 feet high and 35 feet wide. “We are humbled by Mayor Dyer’s support of the Orlando Magic – particularly as we celebrate our 15th anniversary season,” said Orlando Magic Senior Vice President Pat Williams of the City Hall banner. “We are proud to be part of this great Orlando community that stands behind its hometown team in both good and trying times.” Both banners, paid for by the Magic, will be up through April, the end of basketball season.
