MAYOR DYER EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES AT PASSING OF BOB HAVEN
ORLANDO, Fla. (February 29, 2004) – Mayor Buddy Dyer Sunday expressed his condolences at the passing of Robert C. (Bob) Haven, the general manager and CEO of the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC). “Bob Haven was a good friend and was a fixture in this community,” said Mayor Dyer. “He will be deeply missed by many and our hearts go out to his wife and family.” Haven had a long and successful career at both OUC and the City of Orlando. In the 1980s, then Mayor Bill Frederick recruited Haven from the Washington, DC area to become the City’s public works director. He was well known nationally for his creative engineering solutions and his contributions to environmental management. Haven was named Engineer of the Year by the Central Florida Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society in recognition of his services. Prior to his services at OUC, Haven served as the chief administrative officer for both Mayor Bill Frederick and Mayor Glenda Hood.
