ORLANDO, FL (November 16, 2004) – Mayor Buddy Dyer Wednesday will join a City of
Orlando Public Works All-terrain Vehicle (ATV) litter crew on its route.
The Mayor will join the crew that works Conroy Road from Vineland Road to Turkey
Lake Road at 9:15 a.m. and will complete the route at 10:30 a.m.
With the addition of ATV’s over the past six years, the city has been able to
increase service levels without adding staff. Three litter crews now ride routes
on their ATV’s, which allows them to cover 20 miles a day, as opposed to the 7
or 8 miles a day covered by walking the routes.
The city’s litter crews pick up an average of 6,000 cubic yards of litter, or
428 dump truck loads, a year.
