Economic Development

HighTechOrlando...

access imagination.

Mayor Buddy Dyer"This may very well be one of the most important economic development initiatives for our community since I have been Mayor.  I am committed to making Orlando competitive and putting our community on the high technology road map."

Why Technology?

"Technology is the Foundation of Competitive Economies."

Angelos Angelou

The technology industry is the fastest growing industry sector in the country.

By growing the high tech industry, we are strengthening other segments of our community.

Economies founded on technology experience greater economic growth and wealth creation.

The diversification of Metro Orlando's economy will decrease the region's susceptibility to economic downturns.

Technology companies will bring highly skilled labor into Orlando.

Metro Orlando Technology Strategy

In December of 1999 the City of Orlando, Orange County and Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida commissioned the team of Angelou Economics, The University of Texas IC2  Institute, and M+W Zander to begin constructing the Metro Orlando Technology Strategy. An advisory committee of local technology, academic and public sector visionaries provided guidance.

The Metro Orlando Technology Strategy seeks to expand and strengthen the existing technology business base in our region. The Strategy provides for an economic analysis,  entrepreneurship strategies, site assessment and a marketing and branding strategy for the region.

The Metro Orlando Technology Strategy has validated what we already know, Metro Orlando is well on its way to becoming a world renowned high tech center.
