All City of Orlando volunteer applicants must complete and pass a background screening.

Emergency Operations Center

The City of Orlando's Citizen Information Line is a vital communication tool for our residents during emergencies. Volunteers answer non-emergency phone calls during shifts at the Emergency Operation Center. Contact Traci Blue, 407.246.2082

Front Desk/ Museum Store Clerk
The Mennello Museum of American Folk Art

Meet and greet the public, answer questions about the museum and Loch Haven Park. Handle sales transactions in the museum store.

Qualifications:
Ability to run cash register. Some art background helpful. Excellent interpersonal skills. Public speaking experience helpful.

City Hall Ambassador

Provide community relations for the City of Orlando by facilitating guided tours of City Hall. Responsibilities include participation in a one-time training program and leading one-hour tours on an on-call basis.

Qualifications:
Good oral communication skills and the ability to work independently. Professional decorum desired. Skill in dealing with all ages and varying backgrounds. High school diploma required.

Miscellaneous Opportunities
Harry P. Leu Gardens

Opportunities such as guided tours through the gardens and Leu House Museum, assisting classes in horticulture, assisting with fundraisers, etc.

Qualifications:

Multi-Media Aide
Multi Media Department

Assists in the production, presentation and distribution of training, marketing, information and publicity photographs, videotapes and digital images of the city. In addition, aides in the set-up of computer presentations using lap-top computer and LCD projector

Qualifications:
Working knowledge of camera operations which include lens settings, shutter-speed, film speed, etc. Past experience helpful in creating and editing images for use in presentations, network transmissions and pre-press production.

Story Telling Assistant
Families, Parks and Recreations

Assist youth ages 5 to 14 in the art of reading. Listen and tutor youth in reading. Coordination of weekly reading materials

Qualifications:
Ability to read with expression, listen attentively and write. Creative thinking that enhances participant’s enjoyment. A public/private library card is needed.

Volunteer Park Ranger
Parks Bureau/Lake Eola

Promote Lake Eola through public relations with visitors and assisting with special events. Provide extra security by identifying potential safety hazards. Ensure park cleanliness by providing added inspection.

Qualifications:
Desire to work with people. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and perform work in the outdoors. Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Neon Club Dance Host
Loch Haven Park Neighborhood Center

Assist with the Neon Club Dance for physically and mentally challenged adults. Hosting will include assisting at the concession stand and interacting with clients.

Qualifications:
Past experience working with physically and mentally challenged adults a plus. Patience, a positive attitude and the ability to participate in physical activities desired. Ability to lead and positively influence others.

Computer Lab Tutors
Recreation Division

Provide tutoring to youth and adults on the proper use of computer hardware and software. Software packages include topics in Math, English, History and Art. Assist students with Internet use.

Qualifications:
Ability to speak in public, proficient use of computer and effective writing skills. Past experience in computer instruction a plus.

Outdoor Leadership Trainer
Recreation Division MTP (Teen) Program

Assist with MTP Program outdoor skills and activities to promote pride, self-esteem and leadership. Events would include camping, hiking, canoeing, etc.

Qualifications:
Good rapport and past experience interacting with 5th-7th grade youth. Ability to perform outdoor tasks as directed. High school diploma or GED required.
