Mayor Dyer values the contributions that neighborhood
volunteers make to improve the quality of life in our City. In
recognition of the many unsung heroes that work hard to keep their
neighborhood a great place to live, Mayor Dyer has created the
Neighborhood Champion Award. The award
is presented at his annual Neighborhood and
Community Summit held in the spring of each year.
Fannie
Williams is the president of the Clear Lake Cove Homeowners Association.
Fannie has displayed a strong commitment to Clear Lake Cove
neighborhood’s residents and history. Fannie has coordinated many
events during her tenure as president including a 45th anniversary
banquet, which celebrated the contributions of eight Clear Lake Cove
lifelong residents who contributed to the advancement of African
Americans in the City of Orlando. She also coordinated a spring
picnic, a renovation of the neighborhood’s welcome sign, a Thanksgiving
basket delivery to those in need and a holiday gala that raised funds to
purchase books for two of the neighborhood’s first-year college
students. Fannie has contributed countless hours, energy and personal
funds to bring residents of the Clear Lake Cove Neighborhood together
and celebrate its rich heritage.
