City’s Office of Emergency Management Available to Speak at your Association Meeting

With the Hurricane Season right around the corner (June 1-November 30), we encourage you and your neighbors to be prepared. The City’s Emergency Management staff is available to attend your association meetings to discuss what to do before, during and after a Hurricane. Customized Training - Training designed to meet an organizations specific needs.

Are you and your neighbors interested in additional trainings that would help your association run more smoothly? The Office of Communications and Neighborhood Relations offers a variety of training opportunities for neighborhood leaders and volunteers. We provide workshops, roundtable discussions and customized training sessions. Some examples of the trainings we offer are:

comconCommunity Connections Workshops

Community Connections Workshops are offered in partnership with Orange County.

The 2013 Community Connections Workshops are held on the second Saturday of every month from 9 a.m - 12 p.m. at the Orange County Internal Operations Center (at 450 E. South Street, immediately west of Channel 9 TV Station). This year, the City of Orlando and Orange County are also conducting a special series of workshops for Home Owner Associations and Condo Associations.

The workshops are designed to inform, connect and involve citizens and feature a variety of topics of interest to neighborhood organizations and residents. They are also a great opportunity for neighborhood leaders to interact and learn from one another. 

Upcoming free leadership training

How does your neighborhood organization deliver your association’s message?  At the May 11th’s Community Connections workshop, residents can learn how to take advantage of the internet as a communications tool to keep neighbors engaged and informed.  This will be a hands-on workshop.

Mayor Dyer's Neighborhood and Community Summit

summit logoThe Neighborhood and Community Summit, held every spring, brings together neighborhood, arts & cultural, civic, community and faith-based leaders and volunteers to share information on community building and civic engagement.

It also provides an opportunity to learn more about City programs, initiatives and resources that will help guide neighborhood and community organizations towards making a greater impact in our community. A variety of neighborhood engagement workshops, best practices and networking opportunities are available for attendees. 


FNCFlorida Neighborhood Conference

The Florida Neighborhood Conference, (FNC) held every summer, provides statewide leadership in the development of sustainable communities by advocating excellence in education, development for its members and working to protect and enhance neighborhoods.

The Neighborhoods, USA 38th Annual Conference will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota from May 22 - 25, 2013.   NUSA’s annual conference provides attendees with opportunities to celebrate neighborhood successes, network and share experiences with neighborhood leaders and volunteers from across the United States and internationally. Attendees will also participate in workshops to discuss neighborhood concerns and learn about neighborhood best practices.

Neighborhoods USA (NUSA) has, since its inception, been committed to building and strengthening neighborhood organizations and promoting productive communications and collaborations between those associations and both the public and private sectors.

The organization has, for over thirty years, served these broad objectives by conducting an annual conference. This conference provides an opportunity for people from various communities throughout the United States to discuss the pressing issues of the times, share best practices and offer encouragement or assistance.
