Citizen Corps Council
The Orlando Citizen Corps Council was
established in June 2002. More than
50 leaders from a cross-section of the community, from technology and
transportation to education and first responders, were asked to serve on
Orlando’s Citizen Corps Council.

The objectives of this citizen advisory
group are to advise the Mayor and City Council on hometown security issues,
increase citizen awareness and knowledge of hometown security initiatives,
recruit citizens to participate in Orlando’s Citizen Corps training courses,
and to identify volunteer resources to support first responders.
“What
all Citizen Corps Councils have in common is that our local leaders will be
working to expand opportunities for their community members to engage in
volunteer service that will support emergency preparation, prevention and
response.”
