A Time for Patriots
By: Dennis Freytes

These are very trying times, in which we need to reflect on what the American Flag means; on what can be done for the safety of our families. It is a time for Patriots to step up, and take action to proactively serve the best interests of our Community. During these times that "try a man's soul", we can gallantly help protect our Community from emergency, terrorist, and other threats that we face.

In reflecting on our Grand American Flag, we should understand that it is a noble symbol of our great Nation and its precious democratic Constitution (with individual rights for all). Our Flag stands for Freedom, Good, Truth, Justice, and Equality! Never in the annals of Human History has such a Flag meant so much good for Humanity. This we must defend!

For the good of all, our noble Flag can forever fly free; high in peace; or if essential, bravely in War. Many courageous Patriots have fallen defending our Nation, and making it what it is today-- the best in the World. In their memory and for our future, we must marshal the will to win against the forces of evil, and destruction. We can meet the challenge and fight for a worthy cause. Patriotic and civic involvement starts in our Community.

One way to patriotically help is by supporting and participating in Orlando Citizen Corps, coordinated by the City of Orlando. Orlando Citizen Corps is recruiting a growing legion of Citizens that are making a difference in keeping our families and communities safer from the threats of crime, terrorism, and disasters of all kinds.

Our Community needs you! There are many ways to help and contribute. Orlando Citizen Corps training and volunteer opportunities include CERT, Citizen Fire Academy, Citizen Police Academy, Citizen Observer Program, Citizens for Neighborhood Watch, Hometown Security Volunteer Program, SeniorLinks, and American Red Cross. Orlando Citizen Corps training programs are free. Sign up today and receive training that will help you keep your family, friends, and neighbors more safe and secure. For more information on Orlando Citizen Corps, call 321.235.5432 or visit www.cityoforlando.net.

Every one should do their patriotic duty, and pitch in for the good of all (Family, Community, Florida, America, and Humanity)! It's a time for good Patriots to serve their Community!
