Become an OFD Explorer
Welcome to the Orlando Fire Department Explorers
home page. As an Explorer, you will learn firsthand what a working
firefighter is all about. From riding on the fire apparatus to
volunteering your time educating the public in fire and life safety
issues, Orlando Fire Explorers are dedicated to giving back to the Fire
Department and the community.
To become an Orlando Fire Explorer, you must
meet the following criteria:

You must be 14-21 years old.

Have 2.0 GPA or above
-
Hair must be above the ears, with no facial hair, ear rings, or
visual body rings.

Must attend a two hour meeting every other Tuesday night from 7-9pm.

Be accountable on calls, events, and
meetings, maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.

Provide your own black boots, belt, and socks.
Attached is the meeting schedule for 2008. You
must to attend two
meeting before receiving your application for membership. At the
third meeting you will turn in your application, with a $20 membership
fee. Attending ten meetings allows you to begin riding on the apparatus.
All meetings are on Tuesday nights from
7-9pm at the Orlando Fire Museum. The Fire Museum is located at
814 E. Rollins Street, behind the Orlando
Science Center.
