May 6 – 12, 2018, is Arson Awareness Week. The theme for the 2018 Arson Awareness Week is Reducing Arson at Vacant and Abandoned Buildings.
According to the U.S. Fire Administration’s National Fire Incident Reporting System, 34-percent of vacant residential building fires were intentional.
The Orlando Fire Department works closely with emergency service departments, law enforcement, public works and insurance companies to help prevent the horrendous crime of arson at vacant and abandoned buildings.
Juvenile Fire Setter Intervention Program
The Orlando Fire Department aims to identify at-risk children and engage them in fire prevention education and intervention programs such as our Juvenile Fire Setter Intervention Program.
