School Fire Safety

The months of October and November are designated to providing fire safety information to all Kindergarten and First Graders in all City of Orlando Elementary Schools.  Schools are assigned a specific day and time frame for safety training.  The Division of Public Relations Representative will present a 30-40 minute fire safety presentation, accompanied by a firefighter with turnout gear.  Presentations are given to 1-2 classes at a time.  After the presentations, the students will get to look at the fire department apparatus assigned to the school and interact with the firefighters assigned.  This program was first established in 1999 and began receiving requests from schools as early as January for the 2000-2001 school year presentations.  The program was such a success we have received requests to take our program into schools outside the City and our own schools have requested presentations for other grade levels.

If your school is interested in obtaining more information about the School Fire Safety Program, please contact the Division of Public Relations.
