The City of Orlando Fire Department is committed to the health and safety of its residents. With recent fires in our city, we have taken proactive measures to ensure our neighbors are protected. We have worked alongside Code Enforcement to revise the City’s Minimum Standards Code to incorporate portions of the International Maintenance Code to better ensure safe living and maintenance standards for Orlando residents and businesses.
Several of these items will help to provide more clarity as it relates to fire prevention, fire protection and heating. Coupled with these code amendments and outreach and education done by the Orlando Fire Department, it is our goal to help bring attention to these issues and prevent future tragedies. This standard provides an extra layer of protection for homeowners and renters, for example, guaranteeing the right amount and type of smoke alarms that should be inside your home. We know the importance of smoke alarms as it’s the first line of defense for families to get out quickly during a fire.
