The Vial of Life program has been very popular starting 6-7 years ago. A patient's in-depth medical history, information on the next of kin, doctor, and hospital preference is recorded on a pre-printed form. This information is placed in a prescription bottle-type container and placed in the patient’s refrigerator in a pre-determined location. A sticker is placed on the patient’s refrigerator door, indicating a Vial of Life is inside. Emergency personnel can access vital information on a patient, even if the patient is unconscious. The Orlando Fire Department provides the containers and all other materials needed for the Vial of Life Program and performs Health Checks by appointment only.

If your community or organization is interested in participating in the Vial of Life Program, please contact the Division of Public Relations.
