Mayor's Children and Education Initiative

Strengthening Neighborhoods

Children succeed when their families are strong, and families get stronger when they live in supportive neighborhoods, where they are connected to social networks of friends, neighbors, faith communities and civic groups, have opportunities to earn a good living and build assets, and have easy access to high quality services when they need them.

The City of Orlando helps citizens strengthen their neighborhoods, by connecting them to one another and supporting their efforts to benefit families and children.

In addition, the City of Orlando provides grant funding to schools, faith-based institutions, neighborhood associations and nonprofit organizations, to improve the quality of life in Orlando's neighborhoods, meet the educational needs of youth, and support child and family well being.
