Highlights:

Each month over 2,000 people attend nearly 100 classes, clubs, meetings and events managed by the City of Orlando's Families, Parks and Recreation Department. The Center, nearly 28,000 square feet, sits on 3 ½ acres near downtown Orlando.

Programs:

Adult Education Classes: Attend the adult classes offered by Orange County Public Schools – Conversational Spanish and Ballroom Dancing is offered at a minimal fee

Bingo: Play the game, win prizes and enjoy refreshments the fourth Thursday of every month

Dances: Enjoy ballroom dancing every Thursday and Saturday evening and swing dances the fourth Wednesday of every month.

Billiards: Come and play for a day or sign up for a tournament

Bridge Class: Keeps the mind sharp at all levels of interest

Canasta: The friendliest game in town with the friendliest people

Computer Class: Keep up-to-date on modern technology and changing times

Creative Writing: Locally published authors meet weekly to edit and refine their masterpieces

Crochet and Knit: This club creates hundreds of knitted caps and crocheted lap robes each year for hospitals and servicemen

Decorative Art Class: Learn basic painting on everything but canvas, and learn to decorate home accessories with flair

Dominoes and Scrabble: Lively games keep your math skills sharp

Exercise for FREE: Come and work out in our exercise room, play horse shoes, table tennis or shuffle board, join the balance/strengthening class or our walking club – all free of charge

Experience Works: A program offered to seniors to help them get back into the job market. This program will help with resumes and finding the perfect job for seniors

Fancy Paper Crafts: Make boxes and gifts from beautiful wallpaper samples

Field Trips: Join the group for monthly trips throughout Central Florida

Health Checks: Come and have your blood glucose and blood pressure checked the third Thursday of every month

Horseshoes: Pitchers-men and women-won’t want to miss these courts, they are touted the best in the state

Line Dancing Class: No partner or experience necessary for this class that makes every dancer look great

Mah Jongg: Learn this challenging Oriental game of skill and chance

Movie/Shopping Field Trips: Spend the afternoon with friends, go shopping and take in a movie the third Thursday of every month

Pinochle: Haven’t played in years? This fun and friendly group will coach you

Quilting Class: Learn the basics of machine or hand sewn quilts and create heirloom gifts for family and friends

Sewing Class: Come and learn how to sew, bring your own sewing machine or use one of the Center’s many machines

Sing-Along with Norm: Join in with the singing seniors as they serenade the building with their music to the piano playing Norm every Tuesday

Studio Art Class: Learn how to paint on canvas or silk – offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays

Tai Chi: Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced classes on a soft style martial arts program geared toward seniors.

Yoga: Feel balanced and free to be you…every Friday, designed for seniors
