Story Telling Assistant
Families, Parks and Recreations

Assist youth ages 5 to 14 in the art of reading. Listen and tutor youth in reading. Coordination of weekly reading materials
Qualifications:
Ability to read with expression, listen attentively and write. Creative thinking that enhances participant’s enjoyment. A public/private library card is needed. Background check required

Volunteer Park Ranger
Parks Bureau/Lake Eola

Promote Lake Eola through Public Relations with visitors and assisting with special events. Provide extra security by identifying potential safety hazards. Ensure park cleanliness by providing added inspection.
Qualifications
Desire to work with people. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and perform work in the outdoors. Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred

Neon Club Dance Host
Loch Haven Park Neighborhood Center

Assist with the Neon Club Dance for physically and mentally challenged adults. Hosting would include assisting at the concession stand and interacting with clients.
Qualifications:
Past experience working with physically and mentally challenged adults a plus. Patience, a positive attitude and the ability to participate in physical activities desired. Ability to lead and positively influence others. Background check required.

Computer Lab Tutors
Recreation Bureau

Provide tutoring to youth and adults on the proper use of computer hardware and software. Software packages include topics in Math, English, History and Art. Assist students with Internet use.
Qualifications
Ability to speak in public, proficient use of computer and effective writing skills. Past experience in computer instruction a plus. Background check required

Outdoor Leadership Trainer
Recreation Division MTP (Teen) Program

Assist with MTP Program outdoor skills and activities to promote pride, self-esteem and leadership. Events would include camping, hiking, canoeing, etc.
Qualifications:
Good rapport and past experience interacting with 5th-7th grade youth. Ability to perform outdoor tasks as directed. High school diploma or GED required. Background check required.
