DESCRIPTION:

The City of Orlando’s Recreation Division offers a safe and affordable summer camp program for elementary and middle school age children. This five-day week program at 16 City recreation centers offers a diverse array of activities, such as swimming, crafts, outdoor activities, nature programs, exciting field trips (additional expense), computer labs, cultural arts and special events. Sites may offer different activities according to the interests of the children who participate in programs.


Costs - 2008 Summer Camp Program 

   

REQUIRED T-SHIRT:

All registered Camp Orlando participants are required to purchase a camp t-shirt in order to participate in field trips. Cost $5.33
City of Orlando Resident $40 a Week - includes lunch and snack daily. (Proof of residency required. MUST provide driver’s license, water bill, electric bill showing City address).
Non-City of Orlando Resident $50 a Week - includes lunch & snack daily.

Free Lunch Rate 
City Resident Only

$0 a Week - includes lunch and snack daily. For a child to receive this discount, the parent/guardian MUST provide a letter from the child’s school identifying their eligibility for the discount.
Reduced Lunch Rate
City Resident Only
$5 a Week - includes lunch & snack daily. For a child to receive this discount, the parent/guardian MUST provide a letter from the child’s school identifying their eligibility for the discount.

 

Summer Camp Frequently Asked Questions 

Do I need to fill out two registration forms if I have two children attending?
Yes, a registration form will be filled out for each attending child.

Do you have to buy t-shirts every summer?
Yes, each year new designs and colors are chosen for the campers that participant in our programs.

Is there free lunch?
Yes, the City Of Orlando offers a free lunch program for those who choose to participate. However, children can bring their own lunch if they prefer.

Do I sign my summer camp check to the City Of Orlando?
Yes, all checks are made payable to the City Of Orlando, and for your convenience we do accept money orders, Visa and Master Card.

What proof of residency do I need?
During registration please provide one of the following In order to make your registration day a pleasurable one, please bring the following items with you:

Proof of residency any two of the items listed below is acceptable.
- Florida Driver’s License
- Class 1 Identification Card (Florida State ID)
- Utility Bill
- Voter’s Registration Card
- Rental Agreement
- Lease Agreement
- Mortgage

If your child has completed kindergarten a copy of the final report card must be provided on the first day of camp

Payment must be made to ensure a space for your child and may be made in the form of cash, check, money order, Visa or Master Card

Is there any space for junior counselors?
Yes, the City Of Orlando invites students 14 and older to participant as junior counselors during our summer camp program. These students may use these hours as community service projects during the regular school year. Note: This program is not at all sites.

When does summer camp start?
June 8, 2009

What age does a child have to be to come to summer camp?
Five years old, children must have completed kindergarten

Do we have to pay for the whole summer?
To guarantee a space for your child, payment is required.

What types of activities will the counselors do with the children?
These camps feature swimming, hands-on crafts, outdoor activities, nature programs, cultural arts, field trips, puppets, game room activities, special events music and dance, and more!

What day does summer camp finish?
August 21, 2009

Is there a discount if you have a certain amount of children?
We are sorry there are no discounts for multiple family members.
