A new playground will be installed at Mathews Park, providing children with updated equipment to assist their cognitive, creative, social, emotional and physical development. The playground will be installed in June after being utilized for 3 months at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival.
The equipment includes state-of-the-art net climbers for school-age children and a play structure for tots as well. Both have vibrant nature-inspired colors to stimulate the senses and shade toppers to keep things cool. Children can also express their creativity by playing instruments like drums, chimes and xylophones—adding a new dimension to this play experience.
Orlando has had the Playful City USA designation since 2007. The KaBOOM! Playful City USA program, sponsored by the Humana Foundation, honors cities and towns across America that are taking bold steps to ensure that all children, especially the 16 million American kids living in poverty, have easy access to balanced and active play in their communities.
The City of Orlando is proud to be a leader in developing areas and activities that engage children and their families and inspire creativity and has over 50 playgrounds that are located within walking distance of most children.
