This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Orlando Pottery studio. To mark the occasion the Orange County Regional History Center is showing the exhibit “Sculpted, Thrown, and Fired: Celebrating 50 Years at the Pottery Studio.” The exhibit explores the studio’s history, including the talented potters who have worked there, and the magnificent work they’ve created.
Since 1968, the hands of hundreds of experts, camp kids, and budding artists have shaped and fired functional and decorative objects at the city of Orlando facility. In this exhibition, explore one of humanity’s oldest inventions, the history of local ceramic arts, and the shining stars Central Florida calls its own.
The exhibit can be seen Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Orange County Regional History Center at 65 East Central Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32801 until May 6, 2018. Museum admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children 5 – 12 years old.
There will be two Pottery Date Night experiences as part of the regular Third Thursday program. March 15, 2018, and April 19, 2018, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sip wine and nosh on snacks while you create a clay masterpiece. Materials, tools, soothing music, and refreshments will be provided.
