City of Orlando Hosts Moonlight History Stroll
Through Greenwood Cemetery

WHAT:  A moonlight stroll through historic Greenwood Cemetery.  The walk is approximately 4 miles within the 100-acre cemetery and will briefly visit about 100 graves of notable individuals in Orlando's history.

WHERE:  Greenwood Cemetery, 1603 Greenwood Street, Orlando

WHY:  Greenwood Cemetery, established in 1880, is the final resting place of many of Orlando’s founding families. Some of the historical families include: Joseph Bumby, Mayor Mahlon Gore, Cassius Boone (Great-Grandson of Daniel Boone), Mayor Capt. James Parramore, Mayor Bob Carr, Mayor Beardall, T. G. Lee, David Lockhart, Samuel Robinson, Mayor Braxton Beacham, Elijah Hand, Carey Hand, Joe Tinker just to name a few.

COST:  Free.  However, donations to help Greenwood defray costs associated with replacing the 140 trees lost in three hurricanes during 2004 are welcome.
